Third week's a charm...

...or not. :) Let me start by saying we have had another fun week together. However, 8-10:30 p.m. is NOT our favorite time. Olivia can be sound asleep on you, and the moment you put her in her crib to go to bed, she wakes up and screams her head off. So, you pick her up and she immediately falls back to sleep on you. Again, you put her down in the crib...WWWAAAAAA! Eric and I have vastly differing ideas of how to handle this, so then it becomes a battle of wills. Not so fun, especially considering at that time everyone is entirely too tired to be dealing with the situation in a rational state. Eric thinks she should scream it out, I hate that idea and want to go get her and hold her again until she falls asleep. Any suggestions?

My good friend Beth (from Purdue) came to visit this week. She now lives in Dallas, so she drove down on Monday to spend some time with Olivia and me. We had a lot of fun. Mostly we just talked and watched tv, because really...where can you go with a 3 week old? Beth helped out a lot and changed MANY diapers. Thank you so much Beth! You were a HUGE help! Beth taught Olivia how to hold her own bottle. :) I know, I know...it was just a fluke.

In other news...HAPPY THANKSGIVING! We decided to stay here in Texas instead of going back to Indiana for Thanksgiving. So, as we did the first year we were married, I think we are going to have our dinner at Cracker Barrel. :) We had a lot of fun doing that, so we are going to do it again. This time we have a new member to go with us. She won't be having any turkey or stuffing...just milk.

Oh, one more exciting piece of news...last night Olivia went 6 hours without waking me up for a feeding. Thanks Liv! I woke up after 5 hours and freaked out. I made Eric go in to check on her just to make sure everything was ok. She was fine and woke up an hour later for food. That's my girl!

I'm like you Kelly...I would go in and get her. Once she's older, then you can let her cry it out. Do what your mother's instinct tells you to do...you always know best! :)

I'm with Jaime...I totally agree with the cry it out at a certain age. 3 weeks is just too tiny! They're still getting adjusted to the world :-) As Abby got older, the cry it out worked for us. You can also tell if it is a cry that will stop or if she's getting too worked up, and she won't stop until you do something about it. I hope you got the message I left on your cell a week ago or so...you're always invited to our play days if you wanna get outta the house!
