While wondering what to do last night, going to the ER was not on our "Top 10" list. In fact, it was probably #1 on our list of things we didn't want to do. But, we did it anyway. Why? Because Olivia gashed her forehead open. Yuck. I was standing at the sink when I heard her scream (less than 2 ft. from me). I turned off the water, and bent down to her. When she looked up at me, all I saw was blood. Blood on her face, her clothes, her hands, EVERYWHERE. Immediately I go into panic mode and scream for Eric to call an ambulance. I honestly didn't know where the child was bleeding because it was all over her. About two seconds later, I gained control of myself, grabbed a paper towel, and started wiping her off so I could see where she was bleeding. Right smack in the middle of her forehead. She hit it on the corner of our island. Not the corner of the counter top, the actual corner where the cabinets come together. How? Who knows. Anyway, back to the story. So then she sees all the blood on her hands, feet, shirt...and majorly freaks out. If you know her at all, you know she can't stand to have ANYTHING (liquid, food, dirt, etc.) on her hands or feet. So while giving Eric orders (in a nice way I was told later) on what I needed, I was desperately trying to get all the blood off of her so she would calm down. Up next on the orders for Daddy was a juice box and fruit snacks. This really worked. Next I needed him to move Lupe, who was frantically trying to clean Olivia by herself and would not let me do it. Poor Lupe, scared and confused. So, we change her into pajamas, pack up a bag, and head down to TX Children's for some stitches. When we got there, it was empty and we got right in. After coming out of the nurse's room to head over for stitches, we were met with a line OUT THE DOOR! Great timing O, 5 minutes later and we would have had a LONG wait on our hands. So, the Dr. said she was the perfect candidate for Dermabond (glue) and that it would hurt much less than stitches. Excellent! They glued her up and we headed home. The whole trip from start to finish was only 2 hours! Is that a record for an ER visit? I think so! Needless to say she was such a trooper! We weren't sure whether or not to take pictures of this event, so we just took a couple. We are all much better today!

Poor Olivia. Hugs and Kisses to her. I am dreading our first ER visit (which I am sure will happen given the number of accidents Adah has on a daily basis). Sounds like your first one wasn't as bad as it could have been. Let's hope it's your last!
