False Alarm

Well, Eric and I made a trip to the Woodlands Hospital tonight. I thought my water was leaking, so we called the doctor. I was told to come in to get it checked out. So, around 8:30 we packed up the car and headed up there. We got right in and the nurse hooked me up to 2 monitors: one for Olivia's heart rate and the other for my contractions. It was really comforting to hear her heart beating. What was not comforting were my contractions!! They are really strong and painful now...and they are getting quite regular. They were every 5 minutes or so while we were in the hospital. The lady called them "mild" but I don't know what she was smoking because that is not the word I would use to describe them. :) She just kept saying over and over how "thin" I was and how that was a good thing. Apparently I am 90% effaced, but still only 1 cm dilated. She indicated that I may be in early labor. I kept trying to get her to say when she thought I'd deliver, but you know those people, they can never tell you for sure. :) She did make the comment that she didn't think I'd be late though, so that is nice. Turns out they like you to do most of your laboring at home if possible...so that is where they sent us...home. Eric is in bed now as we speak, and I just finished off the rest of the chocolate chip pancakes I made for breakfast this morning. I think it is going to be a long night...

Contractions

So, yesterday afternoon we went to a very beautiful wedding. Everything was so pretty and elegant. After the wedding we headed to the reception, and I began noticing that my contractions were getting kind of close together. I ignored it until they became very annoying during the reception. We ended up leaving early so we could head home. We started timing them, and they were exactly 5 minutes apart for an hour. We decided it was time to call my doctor. By the time she was paged and called back, it had been an hour and a half of constant contractions. She told me to wait another hour to see if they became more painful. Another hour?!? I was so tired by this time, I decided all I wanted was sleep. My thought was: If I am really in labor...then I won't be able to sleep and I'll know it is for real. So, about 2 seconds later I fell asleep. I woke up a lot during the night with hard contractions, but I did not time them. We started timing them again this morning, but gave up. We both decided they aren't hurting badly enough to waste time keeping track of them. So, in other words...nothing happened. :(

Weekly update

I just got back from the doctor and Olivia has finally decided to turn head down and is in position. Good girl. I am barely dilated (I'll save the icky details) and the doctor uttered the phrase, "probably no baby this week" again. I really don't like those words anymore. We want to meet her so badly. On another note, my BFF Lupe and I have been bonding more and more these days. I think she missed me Monday and Tuesday while I was subbing, but I am sure she had fun with all of her doggie friends at her school. One more day of subbing!

Jeep for sale!

Oh, did I mention we are trying to sell our Jeep Commander?? It would make a wonderful Christmas gift for that oh-so-special person in your life, don't you think? :) Ok, you don't have to buy it, but pass on the word to everyone you know...who knows...maybe they'll want to buy it!

No news

My dr. appt. went well on Thursday, but there is really nothing to report. No dilation or anything of that nature. I have been having a lot of contractions. I even had one during my check-up. The dr. said, "Are you feeling that?" I could feel just a little something. She said, "That is a contraction, a big one." Nice to know. :) I have been feeling a lot of them, but if what she showed me also counts as a contraction, then I must be having a TON of them. Is it possible to have regular contractions and then never dilate? I hope not!

I'm going to sub 3 days next week. Monday and Tuesday for my dear old science kiddos and then Friday for math...my old friend. ;) Knowing Jeanne she'll leave me with metric conversion just like Lisa did. Teachers are sneaky. You really should ask about the lesson BEFORE you agree to sub. People worry that I am pushing it doing so much, but I honestly feel like I did when I was only 20 weeks pregnant. My belly isn't that big, and I can still shave my legs without much energy. I can even paint my toenails! But ask me again how I feel next Friday after subbing, and maybe I'll have a different answer. :) 38 weeks down, 2 to go! Oh, and on a side note...the dr. won't let her be more than 7 days late, so we'll get to meet her by November 10th at the latest!

My new best friend

I just went to the dr. and I am 36 weeks, 5 days pregnant....and nothing is happening. I figure, I do everything at the last minute, so I think Olivia is going to do that to me. We are pretty sure that she is still transverse (sideways) at this point. She should be head down, but as I said before, she is taking her sweet time in every aspect. We did put the car seat in the car and packed a little bag for Olivia. I have some things gathered for my bag, but nothing packed yet. Lupe is loving having Mommy home all day, but I can't say the same thing. She is following me EVERYWHERE and I am starting to get a bit annoyed by her new fondness of me. She is laying at my feet as I type this. The first picture is from about 2 weeks ago, the second is from last night, and the third is from 5:15 am today, when I got up because I couldn't sleep anymore!!! Who ever thought sleeping through the night could be so difficult?!?
